I am SO beyond excited about this!
This is my entry for  's contest Mythological Deities. [link]I chose her horse character Zero, [link] to portray Anubis, one of my personal favorite mythological gods. Anubis is the Egyptian god of death, and while that seems dark he is mostly simply a misunderstood character who ushers the passed onto the afterlife, after they pass the weighing of the heart against the sacred Feather of Truth (or "Shut") that he holds. If the heart was free from the impurities of sin, and therefore lighter than the feather, then the dead person could enter the eternal afterlife. Zero was born of a star's death and was sucked repeatedly through a black hole. He is a tortured soul who knows much and carries the very weight of the world on his back which often drives him a bit mad, I would imagine Anubis would feel quite a weight at holding the fate of all the souls in his hands.
