Description

Doll upload to follow! This upload serves two purposes.

1: Deviants can't seem to get enough wip/pencil to paper amature photo shots, everyone else is doing it why not me! ;)

2: I got a lot of questions and lovely comments about my feathered dolls, so I thought I would share the method to my madness. I feel the need to point out this is how "I" do it, the professional doll community while everyone is very nice, are also very tight lipped cards to the chest about how they do things. I can respect and understand that, as because of it I too have spent the last year spending copious amounts of time and materials figuring things out for myself, but I am also here to mentor anyone who takes the time to ask questions, so I hope these photos answer a few.

Every single feather is sewn through the quick at least twice, with at least half a dozen loops through the fur around the circumference of the quick. This might seem like over kill, but it insures these feathers aren't going anywhere unless they are handled very badly. to make feathers look natural, layering is SUPER important. Figure out how many feathers you think you'll need. Then double it, the more the better! =) Roughly 200 feathers were used for this commission, at a brisk 3 minutes per feather getting tlc that right there not counting sculpting, fur sewing, painting, etc is 10 hours. Thought I'd break that down for the few who boggled at my 50.00 extra for feather wings lol.... ;)
